The Assistant Operator is responsible for assisting the machine operator with machine set up, and daily production duties.

• Assist the operator with changeover tasks, and troubleshooting machine problems at assigned machine to maintain established production rate.
• Use machine controls to operate machine if operator is not available.
• Train new packers on quality and speed.

• Record scrap in SAP.
• Record data on specified forms and complete required line documentation.
• Communicate production and machine issues to the supervisor and other production personnel.

• Maintain production supplies and materials in the work area.
• Perform housekeeping and machine sanitation tasks to maintain a clean and orderly work area.

• Comply with all company policies and procedures including GMP, PPE, HACCP, LOTO, and JSA regulations.
• Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, internal quality procedures, and machine operating procedures. Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in work area. Ability to work in an operating environment that may include a machine configuration that requires interface with packers and feeders.

Mathematical

Skills:

Basic mathematics (i.e. counting).

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, or trade school preferred.

Experience: 3+ years of equivalent experience or experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced work environment with 6+ months of machine operator experience.

Other requirements: Knowledge of the use hand tools and the ability to use hand tools. Knowledge of machine operation and electronic and/or manual machine controls to operate the machine and run production.

• Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes are required. In addition, task specific PPE may be required.
• Our Manufacturing plant is not environmentally controlled. Changes in humidity and temperature occur throughout the year.
