1st Shift Lead Fabricator

Shift: Mon-Fri (6am to 3:30pm)

Pay: $27-32/hr.

Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Fabricator to join our structural steel team. In this critical leadership role, you will work directly with the Shop Foreman and department leads to ensure production goals are met while maintaining top-tier safety and quality standards.
  • This position is ideal for someone who excels in fast-paced environments, takes pride in leading by example, and has a strong understanding of fabrication processes and team management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience successfully leading a steel fabrication team
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel, welding, layout, fabrication techniques, and CNC fabrication equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, quality standards, and cost control practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays as needed
  • Commitment to working in full compliance with company safety procedures and policies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of fitters and welders to meet daily production targets and delivery schedules
  • Coordinate with the Shop Foreman, QC, and maintenance teams to keep workflow efficient and equipment fully operational
  • Assign daily tasks and workloads to maximize productivity and reduce downtime
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance for fabrication-related issues, including drawing interpretation, welding techniques, and safety best practices
  • Maintain open communication with leadership regarding deadlines, schedule changes, and team needs
  • Assist with employee onboarding, training, performance reviews, timecard management, and disciplinary actions
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality Control department to ensure all work complies with AISC standards
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the success of the fabrication shop
