Brief Description

Westminster Canterbury Richmond is seeking a part‑time member of its Foundation team to develop and execute a strategy that increases awareness of and applications to the Fellowship Program for lower‑income seniors. The Fellowship has provided housing, meals, healthcare and other benefits to more than 600 Richmond‑area seniors since 1975 and is the founding mission of Westminster Canterbury Foundation. Funding comes largely through gifts to the Foundation, and referrals to the program are often sought from partners such as faith communities and civic organizations.

The role is part‑time (~16 hours per week) based at the Northside Richmond campus, with periodic travel to community partners.

Responsibilities
  • Work with existing community partners to strengthen ties and increase awareness of the Fellowship Program.
  • Identify and contact new community partners (e.g., faith communities and civic organizations) who may serve or interface with potential Fellowship applicants.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including Foundation, Sales, Marketing, and Social Work—to identify barriers to program entry and develop strategies to overcome them.
  • Conduct research with regional Life Care communities into trends in Benevolent Care programs like Fellowship.
  • Research area senior care programs that may offer alternatives to Fellowship to determine similar or competing products and services.
  • Arrange speaking engagements for Westminster Canterbury staff to educate community partners about Fellowship.
  • Present and educate new and existing community partners about Fellowship through presentations and other methods.
  • Work as a member of the Resource Development Division to ensure that the annual Foundation Philanthropy Plan and Strategic Plan are carried out effectively.
  • Assist with department special events and activities as needed, including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups of varying sizes.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to interact and deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, volunteers, visitors, and the general public.
  • Ability to travel to community partners within 50 miles of Westminster Canterbury Richmond.
  • Valid driver’s license in Virginia and a satisfactory motor vehicle driving record.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
