Volunteer Opportunity:
Tik Tok Recovery & Content Strategy for YALDA

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

We’re looking for a skilled volunteer to help us with two key objectives related to our Tik Tok presence:

• Retrieve and regain access to our official YALDA Tik Tok account, which we have been locked out of due to login issues.
• Develop and implement a compelling Tik Tok content strategy tailored to youth engagement across Africa and the diaspora.

We would like the volunteer to:

• Assist with the recovery process (account retrieval, troubleshooting, and contact with Tik Tok support if needed)
• Audit our current Tik Tok content (if access is restored) or review comparable youth-led accounts
• Create a light yet impactful Tik Tok content calendar and growth strategy aligned with our mission
• Work with our Communications Team to pilot and implement content ideas

We estimate this will require around 3–5 hours per week for several weeks, depending on the recovery timeline and content planning needs.

YALDA is a pan‑African, youth‑led nonprofit focused on empowering young Africans through leadership, collaboration, and sustainable development. Tik Tok is a critical platform for us to reach and mobilize African youth, especially Gen Z, where they already spend their time and build movements. This project will help us:

• Reclaim our digital voice on one of the most impactful youth platforms
• Build consistent, meaningful engagement with young people across Africa
• Share youth‑led development stories, leadership highlights, and opportunities in a format that resonates with our audience

By helping us rebuild and relaunch our Tik Tok presence, the volunteer will be directly contributing to a continent‑wide youth empowerment effort that partners with the African Union, UN agencies, and hundreds of universities across Africa.

We’ve identified this project as a top priority within our Communications and Outreach workstream, and our team is ready to collaborate closely with the volunteer. To ensure a smooth and impactful experience, we have:

• Centralized login credentials and documentation for attempted account recovery
• A responsive Communications Team member ready to act on your instructions and feedback
• A list of Tik Tok content ideas previously created by our youth volunteers
• A network of 10+ YALDA branches eager to contribute to short‑form video content once we go live

The volunteer’s recommendations will be immediately implemented as part of our refreshed digital strategy, and they will have the opportunity to shape both the back‑end and creative side of our Tik Tok relaunch.

Mission: YALDA provides a forum for youth on the African continent and those abroad with a commitment to the welfare of Africa. By networking with professionals, mentors and each other, members will increase their capacity to take on positive leadership roles in their universities, countries and on the continent. Through YALDA, members will implement their short and long term visions for Africa.
