Registered Nurse (RN) – Comprehensive Liver Care ICU – Rotating

Join our team at VCU Health as we prepare to launch our brand new Comprehensive Liver Care Unit – ICU in April 2025! We’re recruiting top talent to ensure a seamless transition.

Unit Details
  • Specialization: 15‑bed ICU dedicated to Liver Transplant and Transplant Hepatology patients with critical care needs.
  • Patient‑Care Ratios: 1:1 and 1:2 nurse‑to‑patient ratios tailored to patient complexity.
  • Provider Coverage: 24/7 in‑person provider coverage to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Growth:
    The Liver Transplant program is thriving; in 2023 alone, VCU Health completed 205 liver transplants.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements – For Hire
  • Clin I, Clin II, Clin III:
    Current RN licensure in Virginia or an eligible compact state.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements – For Continued Employment
  • Clin I, Clin II, Clin III:
    Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
Experience – Required
  • Clin I: N/A
  • Clin II: 12 to 24 months RN experience
  • Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience
Experience – Preferred
  • Clin I:
    Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute‑care setting or equivalent.
  • Clin II, Clin III:
    Academic health‑care experience; experience with similar patient populations in an acute‑care setting.
Education/Training – Required
  • Clin I, Clin II, Clin III:
    Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized by the relevant state Board of Nursing.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and complete it within five years unless previously grandfathered.
Education/Training – Preferred
  • Clin I, Clin II, Clin III:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program.
  • Clin III:
    Certification in a specialty area.
Rotating

Shift pattern varies; schedule will be coordinated upon hire.
