- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed in accordance with state laws.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Knowledge and experience with regulations and standards including infection control, quality assurance, and patient care compliance for state licensure.
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) first aid and BLS (Basic Life Support).
- Experience with triaging in emergency situations and assisting with medical emergencies.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to travel up to 100% to provide coverage in assigned areas.
- Two (2) years’ experience with chemical addiction and/or mental disorders, including psychopharmacotherapy.
- Educate patients regarding medications used in the treatment setting and their side effects.
- Administer/dispense medications (e.g., Methadone, Suboxone) in accordance with State and Federal regulations and DEA best practice guidelines.
- Conduct urine drug screens as needed.
- Conduct assessments for new intakes, quarterly, annual, AWOL, and possible impairment.
- Ensure accurate recording of medication administration/dispensing transactions.
- Ensure the treatment plan of the physician and/or medical director is followed.
- Place, interpret, and document Mantoux tests for patients and teammates.
- Assess patient response to treatment and medication dosage/interactions and determine appropriateness for dosing.
- Respond appropriately to emergency or unforeseen situations and provide appropriate care per license.
- Counsel patients regarding personal hygiene, abnormal lab results, HIV/AIDS testing, and all medical matters.
- Document nursing progress notes and maintain medical records.
- Participate in case conferences, offering professional observations.
- Order medical supplies and maintain inventory and record of use per regulations.
- Make appointments for patients to see physicians, obtain lab workups, and provide reminders.
- Conduct medication call‑backs for patients receiving take‑home medication.
Discuss with physicians and team about important changes in patients or patterns affecting treatment. - Provide referrals for specialized care at local health centers and follow up on attendance.
- Assist in organizing transfers of patients to and from the program; verify medication verbally with another program’s nurse.
- Recognize and manage an opioid overdose.
- Understand the clinical benefits and limitations of urine screens and toxicology procedures.
- Attend team meetings and complete required training courses promptly.
- Travel to assigned regional sites as needed/scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
