Float Pool Details
  • ED Float Pool St. Mary's Hospital consists of floating to the St. Mary's Adult ED, Short Pump ED, and Peds ED.
  • Night shift: 3:30 p.m.–4 a.m.
Job Summary

The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for the organization. The primary function of this role, based on hiring tier, is to be available and flexible to float to various departments and sites within the markets to provide patient care. This may include scheduling of day‑of staffing, multiple assignment locations within a single shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns.

The RN works as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a clinical manager or designee, in accordance with the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse.

Essential Functions
  • Float expectation based on tier:
    Tier 1 – single site;
    Tier 2 – multiple sites within a single market;
    Tier 3 – multiple sites across more than one market.
  • Demonstrates awareness of and supports organization departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
  • Plans and coordinates nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence.
  • Formulates and implements a plan of care for each patient, including interventions, evaluation of response, and documentation as appropriate.

Education
  • Associate’s of Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
Required Licensing & Certifications
  • Current nursing license in the designated state of employment (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Required based on specialty assignment
Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care (required)
