Responsibilities

  • Supervise nursing staff, including orientation of new staff, ensuring quality of care, resident life and staff standards
  • Assume responsibility for safety and welfare of residents in absence of DON/ADON
  • Assist charge nurses with physician visits, decision making, CNA assignments, treatments, monthly summaries, admissions/discharges, and order transcription
  • Assume Charge Nurse duties in absence
  • Maintain open communication with residents, families, volunteers, staff and stakeholders
  • Participate in meetings, in‑service trainings and staff development events
  • Monitor resident care, documentation, and HC center environment for compliance with state regulations
  • Assess injuries, provide first aid or refer to MD/ER, report incidents to Nurse Manager/DON
  • Assist with care plans
  • Coordinate replacement staff for call‑ins
  • Coordinate transfer of residents to hospital during emergencies
  • Provide input for residents scheduled for care conferences
  • Demonstrate best practices for staff
  • Provide care following all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Participate in rotating on‑call schedule
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN diploma or degree
  • Three years of progressive nursing management experience, preferably in a long‑term care setting
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills with a passion for the lives of older adults
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations regarding long‑term care
  • Ability to work a variable and flexible schedule
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, push, pull, bend, kneel, stand as needed
