Virginia Home for Boys and Girls (VHBG) is a nonprofit organization established in 1846 that provides essential services to youth in crisis. The organization offers transitional living services, specialized education, and therapeutic resources for young individuals with emotional and behavioral health challenges. With a mission to restore hope, VHBG uses a trauma-informed, relationship-based, and cognitive-behavioral approach to help youth and families heal and thrive.

While part of its funding comes from public dollars, nearly 50% depends on philanthropic support and other sources. VHBG is committed to fostering a supportive environment with the help of dedicated community volunteers and professionals.

Role Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care to youth with emotional and behavioral health challenges in an on-site, full-time capacity in Henrico County in the Greater Richmond Region. Primary responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring health conditions, documenting patient care, assisting in personal health management, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The LPN or RN will work closely with youth and staff, ensuring adherence to all medical, regulatory, and organizational standards.

Qualifications
  • Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) certification and active licensure in the state of Virginia
  • Experience in administering medications, performing health assessments, and managing medical records
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and ability to provide support to youth with emotional and behavioral health needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with a diverse team and provide compassionate care
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and respond effectively to emergencies
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Ability to work on-site in the Greater Richmond Region with a commitment to serving vulnerable youth
  • Familiarity with cognitive-behavioral approaches and prior experience in a similar setting is a plus
