The VAD Transplant Coordinator manifests a high level of expertise in the assessment, coordination and care of the complex patients, families, or communities to actual or potential health problems; prevention of illness and injury; maintenance of wellness; and provision of comfort. The VAD Transplant Coordinator demonstrates strong clinical experiences in patient care.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment
  • Current RN licensure in Virginia
  • AHA BLS HC P Certification or equivalent
Experience REQUIRED
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in transplant, critical care or medical-surgical nursing
  • Two (2) years of progressive leadership experience
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise for population served with a minimum of one (1) year in specialty area
Experience PREFERRED
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience in the transplant field
  • Academic Healthcare experience
  • Advanced Practice Nursing Role or Clinical Leadership experience
Education/training REQUIRED
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
Education/training PREFERRED
  • Masters Degree in Nursing
  • Certification in Transplantation or Heart Failure or Mechanical Circulatory Support
Independent action(s) required
  • All day-to-day operations of the role are handled independently with minimal assistance.
  • Advice and guidance are sought from the Manager or Director on an as needed situational basis and when there is a major impact on activity outside the unit.
  • Actions that are taken without prior approval include daily operational functions and leadership of staff.

  • On-call duties required 24/7

Physical Requirements
  • Lifting 50-100 lbs.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.
  • Prolonged standing, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), repetitive motion.

  • Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, reading, logical thinking.

  • Fast pace environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, able to adapt to frequent change.
