The Acute Neuroscience Trauma unit is the primary unit for neurology and neurosurgery patients—acute and progressive care. We are a Level I Trauma Center and Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center of Excellence. The patient population we service consists of brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes, seizures, and a variety of movement disorders. Experienced RNs are encouraged to apply to this fast‑paced, high‑acuity unit where you will grow your knowledge in the care of patients with lumbar drains, stable ventilators, tracheostomies, complex wounds and post‑operative care.
Our unit collaborates with other services to provide the safest, patient‑centered care. We have a highly engaged nurse resiliency team and amazing teamwork.
The Clinical Nurse I, II, and III jobs integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family. Each level assists the healthcare team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. They provide direction, education, and begin to acquire leadership skills at the unit level. They deliver and accurately document direct, age‑specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
They safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
Clinical Nurse II demonstrates mastery of clinical skills and begins to apply this knowledge to a specific patient population, recognizing changes in patient situations and intervening appropriately, mobilizing resources, and assuming leadership responsibilities.
Clinical Nurse III demonstrates clinical knowledge at the unit level and serves as a role model, anticipating changes in patient situations, and providing advanced guidance at the clinical level.
