American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role at a Level I trauma center, requiring VA or compact RN license and Epic charting experience.
Details- Level I trauma center emergency department
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Candidates must float within scope if needed
- Shift start times of 7a or 11a may be required
- Active VA or compact state RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 3 years of ER experience required, with Level I or II trauma experience highly preferred
- BSN preferred; diploma and Associate degree graduates from accredited programs (ACEN or CCNE) also accepted
- Epic charting system experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
- Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients required
- Pediatric and burn care experience preferred
- Experience with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, and vasopressors required
- Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring preferred
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
- Triage experience required
- Pulmonary artery line experience preferred
- 2 professional references required
- Travel nursing experience required
- Work in a Level I trauma center that is also a stroke-certified facility
- May treat psychiatric patients, including psychiatric holds
- Facility has a natural nail policy for all clinical staff
- Required to complete fingerprinting per Code of Virginia 37.1-183.3; results typically take 15-20 business days and must be received before start date
- All candidates complete orientation modules through the VCU Learning Exchange, to be finished by the Friday of orientation week
- Facility is a drug and tobacco-free workplace with no smoking permitted on campus
- Background checks are conducted on all candidates
- Local candidates accepted at the same base rate with no radius restrictions
- Both travelers and permanent staff must be separated from VCU Health for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Requested time off must be submitted in advance and is subject to manager approval; no time off granted during the first week of assignment
