Position Summary:CMGM seeks a part-time, hourly Bioinformatics Research Associate to develop large language model (LLM)-based bioinformatics pipelines. The associate will use Python, software development, and cloud computing to build, evaluate, and maintain reproducible research workflows.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Develop and evaluate LLM-based bioinformatics pipelines
- Integrate LLMs with bioinformatics tools and cloud computing resources
- Write, test, debug, and maintain Python software and reusable pipeline components
- Document workflows, assess output quality, and communicate results to the research team
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience
- Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience
- Demonstrated skills in Python programming, LLM development, bioinformatics pipeline development, software development, and cloud computing
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a hourly employee at VCU
- PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field
$25-$30/hr
