Field Fuel Systems Welder Summary

As a Fuel Systems Welder/Technician, you will be responsible for pipe welding and fitting, and installing and repairing fuel tanks and dispensing systems. Duties include cutting and welding materials according to industry standards and specifications and repairing fuel tanks. Due to the projects this position will be working on, the employee is required to be a U.S. Citizen. You will get to travel all over learning a niche industry, including work on military bases.

Work in a fast‑paced environment and do something different every day.

Field Fuel Systems Welder Responsibilities
  • Perform recurring maintenance and repairs to petroleum distribution systems
  • Build from blueprints and drawings
  • Fitting, setting and installing fabricated structures
  • Cut and shape with a variety of processes
  • Accurately read and use a tape measure to help produce small steel parts required per drawing specification using various powered tools/machines
  • Operating plasma, cutting equipment and machinery in a safe manner
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Effective communication with subcontractors, project managers and construction managers
  • Operate various power tools and hand tools
  • Adhere to industry safety standards and regulations regarding petroleum storage
  • Travel 95% to job sites out of town (home weekends)
  • Ensure paperwork and job cards fitting to each job are completed
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
Field Fuel Systems Welder Requirements
  • 6G Welding Certificate required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with fuel systems, construction safety, or pipe fitting
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to travel up to 95% of the time
  • Ability to obtain Government Security Clearance
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. continuously
  • Basic computer skills in Word and Excel
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior experience supporting fuel system projects

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi task/prioritize work
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and documents
