Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician position supports the package sorting system, including belt conveyors. In this industry the position is also known as Plant Mechanic or Industrial Mechanic. The role responsible for a broad range of maintenance and electrical activities that keep UPS package handling facilities operating efficiently.
Job Type: Full‑Time, Permanent
Work Location: 9601 Coach Road, Richmond, VA 23237, United States of America
Work Hours: Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM
- $39.16/hour during the first year
- $46.07/hour after one year of continuous service
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
- Troubleshoot, adjust and replace AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers and PLC.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace pneumatic equipment such as puck sorters, flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
- Weld equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Ability to receive and give instruction over radio in an industrial environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience performing maintenance on conveyor belts is an asset.
- Knowledge of electrical and building schematics is an asset.
- Knowledge of keyboard and basic computer skills is an asset.
- Paid training.
- Weekly pay via Direct Deposit—Every Friday.
