Position SummaryA Crew Leader must possess leadership and supervisory skills and have a solid technical background. The role requires managing labor and material, performing administrative functions, and overseeing fiber optic and copper cable system installations.
Responsibilities- Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and certify fiber optic and copper cable systems and support structures.
- Provide first‑level quality assurance and supervision.
- Supervise and lead teams to complete project requirements.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the industry, able to work independently or supervise a team.
- Knowledge of hand tools and test equipment, including OTDRs, power meters, and UTP scanners.
- Proficient in documentation such as work orders, change orders, blueprints, and installation specifications.
- Experience developing and maintaining red‑lined as‑built annotations and performing proper installation of structured cable systems, conduits, cable trays, racks, patch panels, etc.
- Familiarity with fiber optic and copper cable terms and standards (EIA/TIA, NEC, BICSI, OSHA).
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work in premise and OSP environments, including ladders, lifts, manholes, and confined spaces up to 30 ft.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, after‑hours, and travel as required, and to accommodate 24/7 service calls.
- Must pass a background check, maintain a clean driving record, and comply with drug screening; U.S. citizenship may be required.
- High school diploma/GED, military electronic specialization, or trade school certification.
- Required manufacturer certifications for multiple product lines (Corning, AMP, Sumitomo, Mohawk, Belden, etc.).
- Coaxial Installation and Testing Certifications accepted; BICSI certification is a plus.
Stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, pull, push, use hands to handle tools, reach with arms, talk, and hear. Frequently lift a minimum of 75 pounds. Close, distant, color, peripheral, and depth vision required. Noise level moderate, with occasional high levels depending on equipment.
