LocationThis role is on-site with a client in Richmond, VA.
Responsibilities Advanced Troubleshooting and RepairDiagnosing complex HVAC system malfunctions, identifying root causes, and implementing repairs on critical cooling equipment like chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, and precision cooling systems within data centers.
Preventative MaintenancePerforming comprehensive scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing components as needed, while adhering to strict data center maintenance protocols.
System OptimizationAnalyzing data center cooling loads, identifying efficiency improvements, and implementing changes to optimize system performance, potentially including adjustments to control systems or equipment upgrades.
Control System ExpertiseConfiguring, programming, and troubleshooting complex building automation systems (BAS) that manage data center HVAC systems, including monitoring parameters and adjusting settings as needed.
Technical LeadershipActing as a subject matter expert for HVAC systems within the data center, providing guidance and training to other technicians on complex issues.
Documentation and ReportingMaintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, system performance data, and any issues encountered, including creating reports for management.
RequiredSkills and Qualifications Extensive HVAC Knowledge
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience as an HVAC technician.
- Deep understanding of commercial HVAC principles, including refrigeration cycles, air flow dynamics, and control systems.
Thorough knowledge of data center cooling requirements, critical infrastructure, and potential environmental hazards.
Advanced Troubleshooting SkillsThe ability to diagnose complex system malfunctions and identify root causes with minimal downtime.
Control System ProficiencyExpertise in programming and troubleshooting building automation systems (BAS) commonly used in data centers.
Strong Mechanical AptitudeCapability to perform hands‑on maintenance and repairs on a wide range of HVAC equipment.
Safety AwarenessCommitment to following strict safety protocols within a data center environment.
Physical DemandsMust be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work and tolerate confined spaces. Work will involve heights and seasonal temperature extremes.
