Job DescriptionThe Richmond City Sheriff’s Office is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Re‑Entry Coordinator. The core responsibilities include providing re‑entry and case‑work management services to residents being released from jail, helping them successfully reintegrate into the community, and navigating community‑based services related to employment preparation, education/training, support groups, and family reunification. This role reports directly to the Programs Coordinator.
Normal working hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday–Friday, at the Richmond City Justice Center.
The Re‑Entry Coordinator also facilitates case‑management services for re‑entry programming, coordinates program participation in vocational workshops, refers residents to in‑house and community‑based agencies, oversees the transition of the work‑release program for eligible participants, and provides guidance for a successful transition from jail back to the community. The coordinator works directly with residents to develop and deliver programming that enhances skills in housing, employment, interviewing, identification, clothing, transportation, money management, education, community supervision, community resources, resumes, support groups, veterans’ assistance, and barrier identification.
This position coordinates resident schedules, assists with job contacts, resource fairs, and work release in the facility with the Jail Reentry Services Team and the Community Custody Alternative Sentencing Coordinator.
Salary is $55,000; the position is grant‑funded. Competitive benefits package. Position open until filled and at‑will.
Responsibilities- Work with government agencies to ensure program participants are engaged and supported in services that include employment/training, housing, mentoring, and other comprehensive services.
- Work directly with program participants to plan for reintegration from incarceration into the community.
- Serve as the central point of contact between the Richmond City Justice Center and external partners, including non‑profit and faith‑based organizations.
- Conduct initial pre‑release analysis to determine the level of service and support needed.
- Attend program and agency‑related meetings and conferences.
- Work closely with the REAL Program and researchers in data collection, report writing, and follow‑up.
- Ensure individual participant case planning encompasses key partners, support, and services; maintain relationships and contracts within the network of local providers.
- Possess a four‑year degree in business, liberal arts, or a related field and at least three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be proficient in English, able to read, write, and speak.
- Demonstrate competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Have strong interpersonal skills.
- Preferred: a minimum of three years of work experience in a correctional setting and correctional education programming experience.
