Batboy

Job Summary:
The Richmond Flying Squirrels are seeking a Batboy to support on-field operations before, during, and after scheduled home games at Car Max Park. Reporting to the Director of Field Operations and the Home Clubhouse Manager, this role is essential in ensuring a smooth, professional, and well-organized game day experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure players have timely access to required equipment, including bats, helmets, gloves, and related gear.
• Promptly retrieve bats and other equipment following each at-bat to maintain efficient game flow.
• Deliver baseballs, water, or other approved items to umpires as needed during gameplay.
• Assist with pre-game preparation of the dugout, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly organized.
• Support setup and breakdown of batting practice areas before games.
• Collect equipment and ensure the dugout is organized after the game.
• Remain attentive to player needs and assist with their requests.
• Maintain a professional, respectful demeanor when interacting with players, coaches, umpires, and team staff.
• Communicate effectively by relaying messages between coaches, players, and other team personnel as directed.
• Demonstrate strong situational awareness of game flow and anticipate needs to support smooth operations.
• Adhere to all MLB rules, regulations, and safety guidelines applicable to batboys.
• Keep the dugout clean and orderly throughout the game, including proper disposal of trash.
• Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Basic knowledge of baseball equipment, uniforms, and game operations is preferred.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the team's game schedule.
