Finance Assistant/Bookkeeper – Property Development – Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire
We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper to join a growing property investment and development business based in Rickmansworth.
This is a hands‑on position responsible for the day‑to‑day bookkeeping and financial administration of a busy property portfolio. The successful candidate will be confident using accounting software, comfortable working with large volumes of financial data, and capable of managing their workload with minimal supervision.
This role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, has excellent attention to detail, and is looking to join a hardworking, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities- Process supplier invoices and allocate costs accurately within the accounting system.
- Match bank transactions against invoices, receipts and payments.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate purchase and sales ledgers.
- Process staff expenses and prepare payments.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts.
- Assist with rental income reconciliations and landlord statements.
- Monitor outstanding rent payments and report arrears where required.
- Support the wider finance function with general bookkeeping and administrative duties.
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running.
You should be confident using accounting systems, comfortable working with spreadsheets, and able to manage routine bookkeeping tasks without requiring constant supervision. You'll be organised, proactive, and capable of identifying and resolving issues independently.
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeping role.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles.
- Experience processing purchase and sales invoices.
- Confident carrying out bank reconciliations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using accounting software such as Quick Books, Xero or Free Agent
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
