Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Rickmansworth (with travel across regional sites)
We’re embarking on major projects that will make a lasting impact, and we need an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial delivery. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take ownership of commercial performance across multiple projects, ensuring governance, profitability, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Whatyou will be doing:
- Leading the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation, terms, and pricing.
- Managing subcontract packages, interim assessments, and change control.
- Issuing commercial notices and handling compensation events in line with contract requirements.
- Producing and agreeing monthly client applications and detailed cost reports (CVRs).
- Identifying and managing risks and opportunities to maximise margin.
- Driving achievement of business targets for cash, profit, and return on capital.
- Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships for repeat business.
- Supporting estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.
- Managing and developing commercial teams, ensuring their growth and wellbeing.
- Attending progress and risk meetings with clients and subcontractors.
- Applying best practice and governance to deliver value and uphold our principles of "Doing the right thing."
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and construction processes.
- Excellent IT skills (Excel, Word, and cost management systems such as CEMAR, Asite, Orbit).
- Proven stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A track record of negotiation and final account settlement.
- Professional qualifications (MCIOB or MRICS) or working towards full membership (desirable).
- Experience in civil engineering environments (Highways, Rail, Water, Aviation).
- Exposure to large-scale projects or multiple smaller schemes.
- CSCS certification (as appropriate).
