A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Watford is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The school has a strong focus on academic progress, inclusivity, and creating a positive learning environment where both students and staff are supported to succeed.
This role would suit a Science specialist who is keen to make an immediate impact, whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop within a supportive department.
The RoleYou will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The school welcomes specialists in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
, with opportunities to teach your subject strength while contributing to the wider Science curriculum.
- Teach Science to KS3 and KS4 students
- Deliver practical and theory-based lessons that encourage curiosity and inquiry
- Plan lessons that meet the needs of learners with varying abilities
- Assess, track, and report on student progress
- Support students in preparation for GCSE examinations
- Work collaboratively within the Science department on curriculum planning
Contribute to enrichment activities such as STEM clubs or science events - Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification (strong unqualified candidates considered)
- Has experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting
- Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for science education
- Uses a creative and student-centred teaching approach
- Maintains high expectations and effective behaviour management
- Has an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply
- A supportive and collaborative Science department
- Well-equipped laboratories and access to quality teaching resources
- Ongoing CPD and opportunities for career progression
- A positive school culture with a strong focus on staff wellbeing
