Overview

Teacher of English, Full-Time, Ongoing Role – Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. Salary: £34,398 – £46,839 (MPS/UPS, dependent on experience).

February 2026.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, bringing literature and language to life through engaging and purposeful teaching. The successful candidate will support pupils in developing strong literacy, analytical thinking, and written communication skills, enabling them to achieve their academic potential.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching English Language and Literature to KS3 and KS4 classes
  • Designing engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Monitoring progress through assessment and constructive feedback
  • Encouraging a love of reading and writing beyond the classroom
  • Working closely with departmental colleagues to support curriculum development
  • Playing an active role in the wider school community
Qualifications and Skills
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English in a UK secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English
  • A reflective and inclusive approach to teaching and learning
  • Effective classroom management and organisational skills
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
