Cover Supervisor – Secondary School – Rickmansworth

Pay: £100–£150 per day (Dependent on experience)

Supply Desk are currently seeking a confident, reliable and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Rickmansworth area. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring pupils remain engaged with the work provided and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.

Whether you are an experienced Cover Supervisor, a graduate considering a career in teaching, or someone with transferable experience working with children, this role offers valuable classroom experience within a supportive secondary school setting.

• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure pupils remain on task throughout the lesson.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
• Support students with their learning and encourage active participation.
• Provide a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
• Report back to teaching staff on lesson outcomes, pupil engagement and behaviour.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers and wider school staff.
• Adapt confidently to covering a range of subjects across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all students.

• Previous experience working with young people in a school or educational setting is desirable.
• Confident classroom management and behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate secondary-aged pupils.
• Flexible, organised and able to adapt to different subjects and classrooms.
• Passion for education and supporting young people's development.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Secondary school experience is desirable but not essential.
