Basic FunctionKern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Qualified applicants may be contacted immediately if a need arises, without waiting for advertising. Applications remain active for up to two years.
The district is seeking adjunct instructors in Physics/Astronomy. The starting salary range is $60.00/hour, with potential variation based on assignment type and the LHE formula. Refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or HR for details.
Representative DutiesThe successful applicant will provide instruction across a range of Physics and Astronomy courses, potentially including teaching at various campus sites, day/evening/weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and employing multiple teaching methodologies. Responsibilities include student recruitment, articulation of transfer programs, curriculum development and revision, use of multimedia technology, and participation in professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics
- OR Bachelor's in physics or astronomy AND Master's in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics
- OR equivalent qualifications (applicants must submit an application for equivalence form and supporting documents)
Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds. Degrees must be from accredited institutions, and foreign degrees require evaluation.
