Basic Function
Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises, without waiting for advertising. Applications remain active for up to two years and applicants who meet minimum requirements will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs.

Kern Community College District is seeking part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary is $60.00/hour, with rates varying based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For details, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.

Representative Duties
The successful applicant will provide instruction in Physical Science courses, including Physics, Earth Sciences, and Astronomy. Teaching may occur at various campus sites, days, evenings, weekends, or via distance learning, employing multiple methodologies. Additional duties include student recruitment, transfer program articulation, curriculum development, and participation in professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's in physical science interdisciplinary area, or Master's in one discipline with coursework in others, or a valid credential for full-time physical science teaching at the California Community College level, or equivalent. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.

Degrees must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a recognized credential evaluation service.

Candidates should demonstrate broad knowledge of the discipline, effective collaboration skills, curriculum development abilities, communication skills, currency in subject matter, assessment skills, and familiarity with technology and the college mission.
