Role DescriptionThe Property Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Ridgeland, MS. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including preparing and maintaining general ledgers, posting journal entries, and reconciling accounts. The Property Accountant will prepare monthly and annual financial statements, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and support timely financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external partners.
Daily tasks include monitoring property-level income and expenses, reviewing invoices and tenant charges, collaborating with property management and leasing teams, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The role also involves supporting audits, improving accounting processes, and providing analysis to help optimize property performance.
- Candidates should possess strong Accounting and Finance skills, with a solid understanding of property or real estate accounting principles.
- Candidates should possess experience preparing Financial Statements and performing accurate Financial Reporting for multiple entities or properties.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in recording and reconciling Journal Entries (Accounting), including month-end and year-end close processes.
- Candidates should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills to interpret financial data and support decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
- Experience with property management or real estate accounting software is preferred.
- Candidates should possess excellent attention to detail, organization, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are essential.
