What you’ll do- Join a collaborative team to investigate and restore quality water to customers in Jackson, MS.
- Perform fire hydrant operation/flushing, sampling, testing and analysis of water-related standards.
- Cross-train with laboratory staff to perform chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological tests using laboratory equipment and materials.
- Investigate system water issues, respond to customer water quality complaints, maintain and prepare records/reports, and operate laboratory equipment and materials.
- Take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of the team.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems
- A valid state driver’s license
- Ability to operate hydrant valves, perform system flushing, and other physical system maintenance duties
- Willingness to work in the field under various conditions
- Basic knowledge of chemistry, biology, and related testing procedures; laboratory safety and equipment care
- Knowledge of potable treatment system testing and effects of water chemistry changes
- Safe work practices

Physical and environmental demands include standing, walking, sitting, dexterity, balance, climbing, and exposure to potentially loud environments, high-pressure systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, fumes, and chemicals. Proper safety equipment is mandatory in these areas.

The base salary range is $37,400.00 to $41,140.00, though pay is hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, pay is determined by location and factors including job-related skills, experience, and education or training.
