About the Job
In this position, you will use your expertise to execute on a broad range of planning and design for civil and structural projects at power plants for today's leading energy providers. This will include the development of plans, construction drawings, specifications, design computations, and reports. You will be technically involved in detailed design work, coordination of civil and non-civil designs on multi-discipline projects, coordination with utilities and municipalities, as well as resolution of design issues that may include site support to perform field investigations, installation support, and as-built documentation.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Design and analysis of changes to existing power plants as well as new plant systems.
- Develop equipment mounting, foundation design, and pipe support calculations and designs.
- Perform work requiring the application of basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts; this will include reading and understanding design drawings and technical specifications as necessary to support preparation of project deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and engineering evaluations.
- Reviews, assembles, and prepares design modification packages.
- Develop specifications of structural components.
- Perform site walkdowns to identify design solutions and develop cost-effective problem resolutions.
- Perform static equivalent and dynamic analysis of structures for seismic loads.
- Gain familiarity with and application of industry codes and government regulations.
- Design of pipe supports, structures, etc.
- Interface with other staff engineers as well as engineers working out of our offices.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university required.
- Minimum of 7 years civil/structural design experience with a focus on projects in nuclear facilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication with clients, colleagues, and project managers.
- Possesses a technical mastery of engineering principles.
- Solid understanding of concrete and steel design codes and with working stress and ultimate strength design approaches.
- Ability to perform review of complex structural calculations and design deliverables.
- Professional Engineering License preferred.
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD Software.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
