Job Summary:

To perform routine administrative and clinical duties to ensure orderly, efficient office operations and to assist staff with the examination and treatment of patients within university physicians.## Education & Experience Associates degree in a field of science

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Health career Association (NHA)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by  American Medical Technologist (AMT)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Association of Medical Personnel (AAMP)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) by National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Allied Health (AAH)## Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff. Verbal and written communication skills. Record management and accounting skills. Ability to collect, record, and maintain data.

** Responsibilities
* ** Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, obtains patient medical histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
* Performs routine specialized procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization, and sterile dressing changes in accordance with established protocols. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens for analysis.
* Arranges examining room instruments and equipment; sterilizes medical instruments; disposes contaminated supplies; maintains stocks of medicines and medical supplies.
* Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established guidelines.
* Performs administrative duties such as answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patient medical records, verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and performing billing and bookkeeping.
* Practices safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
* Assists surgeons in all aspects of MOHS surgery and excisions
* Administers oral medications as well as local anesthetics
* Skillfully performs suture and staple removals and provides wound care management and education for patients
* Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and disposal of contaminated supplies and biohazardous waste.
* Obtains patient medical history, accurately scribes for physician, documents time out procedures and vital signs in HER, and collects, labels, and stores lab specimens according to department guidelines
* Utilizes appropriate equipment with precision for all histological protocols.
* Performs complex staining techniques and demonstrates competency with immunohistochemical procedures to include in situ hybridization reactions.
* Performs computer data entry, recall, and labeling on complex pathology network
* Performs routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and minor adjustments on all lab equipment.
* Prepares and examine solutions for contamination, impurities, or instability.
* learns difficult, specialized tissue cutting technique with steep learning curve and small margin for error
* Appropriately demonstrates telephone triage protocols and documents in EHR
* Performs other duties as assigned.
