Role

Mechanic
, based in Jackson, MS
. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment plants and related facilities equipment on an assigned shift. You will contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You will perform maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery and equipment; lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions;

replace packing in pumps or valves; replace bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tune engines, set valve clearance, clean and adjust regulators; examine equipment failures to identify cause and prevent recurrences; install and set up new equipment; clean and paint interior and exterior equipment and buildings; perform plumbing and pipe fitting tasks; use gas and/or arc welding equipment; perform duties of painter when needed;

assist in keeping maintenance records; and perform other duties as required. You will take actions to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment plants and related facilities equipment.
  • Lubricate equipment, check for malfunctions, replace components, tune engines, and adjust systems as needed.
  • Install and set up new equipment; perform plumbing, pipe fitting, welding, painting, and related tasks.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate with team to deliver reliable operations and solutions for municipal clients.
Qualifications
  • One year of experience in the maintenance of water treatment plants and related equipment, or similar maintenance experience.
  • Valid Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification or ability to obtain within 3 years of date of hire.
  • Proficiency in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions.
Preferred/Ideal
  • Forklift experience.
  • Experience serving municipal utility clients.
  • Safe work practices.

Physical Requirements

Safety is a core value  position involves safety-sensitive labor; a pre-employment physical may be required to ensure fitness to perform essential duties. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance, dexterity, and the ability to work in environments with noise, machinery, high pressure systems, confined spaces, and exposure to fumes and chemicals. Use of appropriate safety equipment is mandatory.

Benefits & Compensation Details

Health and welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, 401(k), paid time off (17 days per year), seven paid holidays, one floating holiday, caregiver leave, and the option to purchase company stock. The base salary range is $42,400.00 to $50,000.00, though pay may be hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, pay is determined by location, skills, experience, and education or training.
