Primary Responsibility
The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College are here to assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available which complement the teaching process. The faculty members need to be committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. Although teaching is the most important role of the faculty, the needs of our learners are also served when faculty are engaged in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities.
The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning who are active in the art of teaching and passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor's degrees with a focus on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes for all students. CMC does not conduct research but focuses on excellence in teaching and learning in diverse classroom settings and programs.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for dynamic classroom experiences and excellent academic opportunities and student support.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
- A minimum of a master's degree in a related field for the position being recruited or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a specifically related field. For example, for business: (business, finance, management, marketing, or related fields).
- Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
- An equivalent/applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position required.
- Special skills or abilities directly applicable to the position include knowledge of pedagogy, teaching experience equating to two years, strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational skills, general office skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, ability to research and analyze data, and the ability to work independently towards goals and deadlines.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities are preferred.
This position requires residency in Colorado and performing all duties within the state.

Minimum Qualifications:
Essential Duties
The following responsibilities and activities are listed to maintain consistency and align job duties with evaluation and promotion procedures:
- Teaching course load as assigned, evaluating courses, assessing student learning, and meeting established outcomes.
- Developing rapport with students and staff that encourages communication.
- Maintaining accurate course records and completing required forms.
- Being available for student consultation.
- Participating in recruitment, curriculum evaluation, and professional development.
All faculty acknowledge that final payment may be withheld until grades are submitted.
Supervision of the Position
This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee and may supervise student employees.
Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check is required. The position may require travel, evening, and weekend hours.
Working Conditions
The position involves sitting, walking, standing, driving, handling objects, reaching, lifting, and communication tasks. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment, with occasional vehicle driving.
