Licensed Practical Nurse – Upper Valley Family Medicine (Part‑time) – Mountain View Hospital, Idaho Falls,
Job SummaryResponsible for assisting the physician with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provide appointment scheduling, chart management, patient education, and anti‑infection protocols. Collect, process routine testing, and return results to the doctor. Obtain and process the doctor’s orders, data entry, and provide customer service to patients, doctors, and medical staff under pressure. Perform CLIA waived moderate testing.
Daily ResponsibilitiesThe RN provides direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting. The nurse communicates with providers, the nurse manager, co‑workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, diagnostic evaluation results, and symptom changes. The nurse responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment, and is trained and licensed. The nurse may also have inventory/ordering responsibilities in addition to clinical duties and will be expected to cross‑train in additional clinic areas including laboratory rapid assays, reception, and radiographic studies.
- Work under direct supervision of MD, PA-C or NP to provide excellent care to all clients.
- Perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and perform reassessments as per policy, including pediatric, geriatric and general patients.
- Assist in minor office procedures and appropriate medical screening exams.
- Adequately assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate management techniques, and educate patient/family.
- Perform waived testing per laboratory and patient‑care policies, interpret results.
- Know medications and correct administration based on age and clinical condition using the five medication rights.
- Interact professionally and treat patients and families with respect and dignity; involve them in the care plan.
- Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
- Serve as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other providers.
- Consult other departments as appropriate for interdisciplinary care.
- Communicate clearly with office manager, co‑workers, and physicians.
- Maintain documentation per current standards and policies.
- Operate equipment safely and correctly.
- Be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
- Complete annual education requirements, comply with infection control, safety guidelines, ethical practices, and confidentiality.
- Wear identification while on duty; use the computerized punch‑time system accurately.
- Attend at least 75 % of staff meetings annually.
- Represent the organization positively and professionally.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.

QualificationsEducation/
Certifications:
Graduation from an accredited Health Sciences program or higher. Valid BLS, BLS/ACLS/PALS or PEARS certifications within 60 days of hire. LPN degree with associated IV therapy and drug administration certification.
Experience: 2‑5 years clinical experience preferred.
Equipment/Technology: Experience with computers and office equipment required.
Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; bilingual is a plus; must understand medical terminology.
Mathematical
Skills:
Able to accurately calculate drug dosing and IV drip rates.
Mental and Interpersonal Capabilities: Organized, multi‑task, critical thinker, good customer service, able to handle conflict, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
