Converting Area Leader

Georgia‑Pacific’s Consumer Products Group is seeking a qualified professional to consider for an Area Leader in the Converting Department at the Savannah River Mill operation located in Rincon, GA. The Area Leader has 3‑6 salaried direct reports and will have responsibility for all of our converting areas.

• Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle‑Based Management (PBM) culture
• Provide strategic leadership to achieve key operation objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, and cost
• Accountable for employee and organizational development plans and people management strategies
• Ensure organizational structure, succession plans and individual roles, responsibilities and expectations are aligned with the mill’s organizational, tactical, and strategic goals to maximize value for the company
• Provide leadership and hold the team accountable for the implementation of complete asset strategies and an ownership‑based work system that develops technicians to successfully operate, maintain, and improve the equipment and processes
• Lead and foster a strong safety and environmental compliance culture that values risk identification and personal ownership, through a principle‑based approach
• Responsible for the converting operation for safety, quality and reliability of the area assets and using reliability concepts (i.e. root cause failure analysis, operator basic care, PMs, etc.)
• Drive mill initiatives and sense of urgency to achieve plant value driver metrics and targets
• Collaborate and knowledge‑share with other departments across the mill and other levels within the organization to ensure the success of operational goals
• Partner and communicate with internal and external customers, and business leaders

• Five or more years of leadership experience in a paper‑making operation
• Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with reliability systems, work processes, and implementation strategies, with a demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Paper Science
• Supervisory experience within a paper machine organization/product system
• Experience with a tissue machine
• Experience training and mentoring direct reports and other team members
• Experience with controls design and strategies for paper tissue converting machines
