Construction Inspector – Welding/Coating
Pay range for this position is provided by Advance Tank and Construction: $40.00/hr – $45.00/hr your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience – speak with the recruiter to learn more.
We are looking for a certified Weld Inspector with the following qualifications:
- Certified Weld Inspector or hold the AWS QC1 certification for welding.
- Journeyman level skill with equipment, procedures, consumables and ability to perform SMAW, GTAW, GMAW and FCAW weld processes.
- Capable of certifying per ASME Section IX for SMAW, GTAW and FCAW processes.
- Good interpersonal skills, positive attitude and ability to learn, with experience on computers, preferably Microsoft products.
- Ability to pass a post‑hire physical and a substance‑abuse test when required by Advance Tank or its customers.
- After training, possess a good understanding of Advance Tank welding procedures, quality and testing requirements.
- Promote and maintain effective communication with the site superintendent, project personnel and customer regarding weld quality.
- Conduct pre‑weld verification of materials, weld rod, weld gases, welding processes and welder qualifications to determine suitability; maintain a current weld map and continuity log.
- Visually inspect welders during the welding process.
- Assist welders and teach proper techniques.
- Inspects completed welds to ensure they meet code and Advance Tank standards.
- Schedule, coordinate and monitor weld tests performed by outside vendors or company personnel, verifying that testing meets the appropriate code and identifying needed repairs and repair processes.
- Submit continuity records and all necessary welding paperwork to the corporate office for tracking.
- Must be able to perform all duties safely.
- Monitor safety at job sites while performing QA/QC functions.
- Read blueprints, assist in layout, and work on site physically if necessary.
Typically 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Overtime may be required. Begin work promptly at the designated time.
Work ConditionsWork is performed on feet, kneeling or bending all day and outdoors in all weather conditions and , including respirators if required, must be worn. This position requires travel.
