Food Service Associate – Non-Exempt (GATE Store)

Job Summary

The GATE Store Food Service Associate ensures customer service is the first priority for GATE operations by providing a friendly and efficient experience for guests. Responsibilities include routine food preparation, assisting customers with product information, operating food production equipment, stocking coolers and shelves, maintaining cleanliness and organization, performing minor maintenance on store equipment, operating the register, and assisting in training new and existing team members on food preparation, customer service, and kitchen safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Speak, read, write, and comprehend English at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with customers and team members

Job Knowledge

Possess basic mathematical knowledge and be able to effectively follow all safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to ensure quality food service. Strong customer service skills and product knowledge gained through training to assist customers and ensure proper stocking. Preference for previous successful experience in a convenience store, restaurant, fast food, or related environment, and knowledge of Food Safety.

Duties and Functions
  • Arrive to work on time and consistently comply with GATE standards for uniform and appearance
  • Follow GATE standards for uniform, appearance, and hair style; management has final approval
  • Attend all required training, safety courses, office and departmental meetings
  • Ensure GATE’s customers are the first priority to guarantee repeated visits
  • Greet customers and assist with questions about products or services offered by GATE
  • Provide a friendly and efficient checkout experience and handle all payments following GATE policies
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
  • Communicate accurately and positively with customers and staff, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints
  • Abide by federal, state, local law rules and regulations, including company policy
  • Maintain or obtain Food Safety Certification
  • Use organizational skills to continually provide customers with a clean and well-stocked store
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance of store food equipment while ensuring food quality and maintaining commercial kitchen cleanliness
  • Sanitize surfaces, properly store ingredients, follow hygiene protocols, maintain cleanliness of restrooms, floors, windows, storage rooms, sanitizing pumps, emptying trash cans, changing light bulbs, placing towels, and changing paper and ink cartridges in registers
  • Follow all food safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control
  • Store and rotate ingredients properly to minimize waste and ensure freshness
  • Prepare made-to-order food items according to the set menu, following standard recipes and portion guidelines
  • Accommodate customer requests for menu customizations while maintaining food quality and consistency
  • Assist customers with menu choices and answer questions about ingredients and preparation methods
  • Ensure proper portion control and presentation of all food items
  • Perform any additional tasks requested or assigned by Kitchen and Store Managers
