You will use your specialized expertise to handle complex repairs in at least two of the following areas: conveyors, rolling stock, or building systems. Armed with sufficient electrical and mechanical knowledge, you will diagnose, prioritize, plan, and execute repairs independently, mentor less experienced team members, and communicate with leadership as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain appropriate certification as required by state and local regulations.
- Ensure safety in all tasks: determine safety precautions, prepare the worksite, perform lock‑out/tag‑out, and use appropriate PPE.
- Plan and execute maintenance tasks: evaluate equipment condition, determine repair needs, gather tools and parts, and perform repairs or preventive maintenance.
- Lead and mentor team members: coordinate efforts, oversee less experienced mechanics, and provide training.
- Maintain accurate documentation of equipment condition, work performed, parts used, and enter data into the computerized maintenance management system.
- Develop expertise in at least two specialty areas while maintaining proficiency in basic repairs across all areas.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- 4 years of maintenance experience.
- 2 years of experience in each of your two specialty areas.
- Experience repairing and providing technical training in standard electrical/electronic voltages (51–599 V and above).
- Ability to lift 25–70 pounds.
- Safe work with corrosive materials and at heights of 20+ feet.
- Certified for local regulatory requirements (e.g., electrical work in Oregon) if required.
- Proven record of following safety requirements.
- Visual acuity to see objects and discriminate color.
- Experience and/or certification with welding and fabrication.
- Experience operating various maintenance and operations vehicles.
- Demonstrated track record of addressing equipment/system irregularities to reduce failures and downtime.
- Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Requires on‑call support.
- Available to work a set schedule that may be changed by management based on facility needs.
- Ready to work morning, afternoon, night, or weekends and overtime as required.
Environmental factors include both indoor and outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty weather. Exposure to constant or intermittent noise and vibration is possible. Lifting methods follow guidelines to limit single lifts to 70 pounds; team lifts used minimally starting at 70 pounds or when needed. Powered equipment is used with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
