Role Overview

You will work closely with the Pre‑Construction team to lead and coordinate the design and delivery of major projects across the Southern Region. This role suits someone proactive, inquisitive, and confident in challenging design assumptions to drive value engineering, reduce risk, and ensure buildability is fully considered at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

Lead design coordination through both pre‑construction and delivery phases.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and the supply chain to optimise design solutions.
Challenge designers constructively to ensure value, efficiency, and buildable outcomes.
Support feasibility studies, options appraisals, concept design, and detailed design.
Maintain a strong commercial awareness of the design process and associated risks.

About You

Essential

Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline), or equivalent experience.
Chartered or working towards chartership with ICE (or similar).
Experience from either a site‑based civil engineering role or a design consultancy background.
Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design and build projects.
Awareness of commercial, technical, and risk‑related aspects of project delivery.
Full UK driving licence.

Experience preparing feasibility studies, option appraisals, concept and detailed design
