We are looking for a Group Drainage & Civils Engineer to join our Group Construction team at Churchill Living, based at Churchill House in Ringwood. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong civil or drainage engineer to play a key role in supporting our residential developments from early planning through to detailed design and technical approval.
About the role
As Group Drainage & Civils Engineer, you will produce drainage and civil engineering designs for Churchill Living developments and provide business-wide technical support on drainage and civil engineering matters. Working closely with our Structural Engineering Department, Divisional Technical teams, Pre-Contracts Manager, Divisional Design teams and Planning Issues team, you will help ensure our developments progress smoothly through planning, technical approval and construction stages.
The role is primarily office-based, with site visits required as needed, and will involve managing technical design work across multiple projects while meeting programme deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Produce pre-planning drainage strategies and flood risk assessments for proposed developments.
- Review geotechnical desk studies, site reports and CCTV drainage surveys, advising on any further information required to establish drainage strategies.
- Complete pre-planning drainage capacity checks, liaising with local water and sewerage undertakers on proposed connections and flow rates.
- Prepare detailed foul and surface water drainage designs, including attenuation, storage, manhole schedules, soakaway design and construction packs.
- Prepare highway access and Section 278 works designs where required, securing technical approval from local highways authorities.
- Submit Section 106 applications and support Section 104 and Section 185 technical approval processes for adopted drainage connections and diversions.
- Produce SuDS drainage management and maintenance plans, surface water drainage verification reports and input for Construction Environmental Management Plans where required.
- Respond to LLFA queries during planning condition discharge applications and coordinate drainage designs with the in-house structural engineering team.
- Work with Divisional Technical teams to provide timely information in line with project design programmes.
About you
You will have experience producing drainage and civil engineering designs for residential developments, along with a relevant qualification in civil engineering, drainage engineering or a related discipline. You will be confident working with drainage regulations, SuDS principles, flood risk requirements and adopted drainage standards.
You will be a competent Revit user with strong technical design, communication and organisational skills. Experience using drainage design software, preparing technical submissions for approval, and working with Section 104, Section 106, Section 185 and Section 278 processes would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities. You should be comfortable working under pressure, meeting deadlines and collaborating effectively with internal teams, external consultants, local authorities and statutory undertakers.
