Legal Finance Assistant (ATT Pathway)

Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 per annum (D.O.E & qualifications)

We are seeking a capable and detail oriented finance professional on behalf of a successful regional law firm expanding their busy finance team. This role is ideal for someone with solid Legal Cashiering experience and some ATT-level knowledge (fully qualified, part-qualified, or willing to train). In this varied and hands-on role, you will support day-to-day legal finance activities while contributing directly to the Private Client department with trust accounts and related tax accounts.

Key Responsibilities Client Account Management
- Maintain client account ledgers, process receipts and payments, and ensure accurate posting of financial transactions in line with legal regulations.
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of client and office bank accounts, supporting journals and ledger maintenance.
- Assist the Private Client department with the preparation and maintenance of trust accounts, inheritance tax tracking, and related tax accounts to meet reporting deadlines.
- Assist with VAT returns, month-end processes, and routine financial reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant financial and tax regulations.
- Manage general cashiering duties, including processing CHAPS/BACS payments and resolving financial queries efficiently.
- Review financial information to identify discrepancies, resolve queries, and contribute to the development of efficient finance procedures.
- Proven experience in a legal cashier role or a similar mid-level legal finance position.
- ATT qualified, part-qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent technical knowledge. Candidates with general accounts experience who are explicitly prepared to take on the ATT qualification will also be considered.
- Prior experience supporting private client work, including trust accounts or related tax compliance, is highly advantageous.
- Confident using accounting/tax software and Excel to manage and analyse data, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Organised, dependable, and able to manage competing deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
- A clear communicator who can build effective working relationships with internal colleagues, clients, and external bodies.
