Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Rio Rancho, NM, for a Youth Development Counselor at the YMCA of Central New Mexico. The Youth Development Counselor will work directly with children and youth to support their social, emotional, and personal growth. Key responsibilities include implementing engaging and developmentally appropriate programs, creating a safe and supportive environment, and fostering positive relationships with participants, families, and community members.

The counselor will serve as a role model, guiding youth in building life skills and developing their full potential.

Qualifications
  • Experience and skills in Youth Services and Youth Development
  • Background in Social Work and Psychology
  • Ability and passion for working with children
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is preferred
  • Previous experience in youth programs, counseling, or mentoring is highly desirable
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
