Position SummaryAssists the Director of Plant Operations in developing safety programs and conducting safety training, safety equipment inspection and evaluation, safety surveys and inspections. Respond to emergencies involving the safety of Hospitals' facilities, employees and patients. Assists in conducting safety and emergency training exercises. Inspect, monitor and report safety compliance for facilities, and facility modification sites as directed. Monitor the Hospitals' air quality as directed.
Maintain compliance with safety standards and regulations as directed. Perform accident and hazard report investigation and follow-up as directed. Coordinate and conduct emergency response drills as directed. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
- PROGRAMS - Assist in the collection, summarize and distribute performance indicator data for Environment of Care programs
- EMERGENCY RESPONSE - Respond to Hospitals emergencies, hazardous materials spills, fires, floods; conduct emergency training exercises
- INVESTIGATION - Assist in investigations of medical device safety incidents; prepare defective device reports; follow up on corrective actions; maintain report database and files
- RESPONSE - Coordinate, conduct, and document emergency response and fire drills as directed
- MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION - Perform Life Safety systems recurring maintenance and inspections; plan, prioritize and oversee repairs, renovation, and new construction minimizing disruption of operations; make various inspections
- DATA ENTRY - Maintain consolidated hazardous chemicals database and ensure Safety Data Sheets are entered into the online repository as directed
- PLANNING AND CORRDINATE - Assist in planning and coordinate special projects, events and programs as required
- TRAINING - Develop and conduct safety training in conjunction with the Safety Officer
- REPORTS - Understand accident reports and hazard reports; gather, compile and analyze data and make recommendations
- INSPECTION - Inspect facilities, new construction and modification sites and safety equipment according to hazard surveillance schedules for compliance with safety OSHA, DOT, EPA, TJC, NFPA, State and Hospitals standards and regulations; prepare, maintain written recommendations, reports; perform follow-up review on findings
- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain established Safety policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs
- DEVELOPMENT
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meeting and workshops - RELATED DUTIES - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- EMERGENCY PLANNING - Escort outside agencies on safety related tours and inspections
- COMMITTEES - Attend meetings and represent department or Hospitals within Hospitals related committees or the community, as assigned by supervisor
- RECORDS AND REPORTING - Create and maintain all required Safety and Hazardous Waste reports, records, statistics, etc
- WORK ORDERS - May be asked to fill in to repair minor work orders
- INSPECTION - Ability to inspect the physical environment of the hospital and ensure the buildings compliance with the Life Safety Drawings
- SYSTEMS - Have knowledge of the Fire alarm and Sprinkler system
- COORDINATE - Assist in developing and coordinate implementation of safety recommendations
- DRAWINGS - The ability to understand Life Safety drawings
- KNOWLEDGE - Maintain knowledge and keep up to date with regulations and standards including but not limited to OSHA regulations, DOT and EPA storage handling, use and disposal of hazardous and infections waste, PHMSA compressed gas regulations, NIOSH Respiratory Protection regulations and NFPA standards related to fire protection systems, emergency management, fire extinguishers training and…
