Position Summary
Prepare, compile, analyze, interpret, and report financial data of the component hospitals of The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Provide business plans, short- and long-term projections, ratios, graphs, and strategic business unit profitability reviews. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed Responsibilities- ANALYSIS – Prepare financial analyses as directed by Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
- PERFORMANCE – Review profitability and performance of strategic business units and cost centers.
- PLANNING – Generate and maintain five-year plan projections, along with “what-if” scenarios.
- RATIOS AND GRAPHS – Prepare and interpret ratios and graphs for clinical operations.
- BENCHMARKS – Generate and review benchmarks; determine appropriate benchmarks for Hospitals and make benchmark recommendations.
- BUSINESS PLANS – Prepare or review business plans and make recommendations.
- EXPERTISE – Represent Hospitals on teams and in meetings where financial expertise is required.
- DATA – Frequent pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries; reporting of financial data through data repository review.
- REPORTING – Collaborate with Finance and Budget Directors to maintain accurate reporting.
- CONSULT AND ADVISE – Consult with and advise Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer as needed.
- CONTRACTS – Review managed care contracts and propose new rates.
- CONTRACTS – Review other contracts for financial impact on Hospitals.
- ISSUE RESOLUTION – Monitor, evaluate and resolve concerns or problems identified by external (e.g., patients, visitors, vendors, payers) and internal customers (e.g., employees, volunteers) forward to appropriate departments or units for further evaluation or action.
Education – Essential: Bachelor’s Degree.
Education – Nonessential: Master’s Degree.
Education – Essential – Specialization: Related Discipline.
Education – Nonessential – Specialization: Business Administration.
Experience – Essential: 5 years directly related experience.
Experience – Nonessential: Health care environment and health systems familiarity.
Credentials – Nonessential: Certified Public Accountant.
Physical ConditionsSedentary work; may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
