Role and Responsibilities

To address prolonged and significantly increased customer demand, a new Director or Manager of Engineering position has been created. This will be a key strategic role within our growing engineering and manufacturing organization, reporting into the President & Chief Engineer. The Director/Manager will be responsible for leading a small team of engineers to ensure parts and products are designed to exacting specifications that can be machined/manufactured using accepted CNC machining standards.

The ideal candidate not only has proven design engineering expertise, but also a successful track record leading teams for optimal performance and a desire to build a new organizational structure for this growing team.

Timelines for projects are measured in weeks, not months, so repeatable, well-documented processes are critical to the company’s continued success. With emphasis on efficiency, the Director/Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of process and production methods and procedures, both for engineering and manufacturing practices. In this capacity, the Director/Manager will demonstrate strength in collaborating with other managers and teams to drive results.

As a “player/coach”, the Director/Manager will also be responsible for designing new innovations including custom product development in response to new market or customer opportunities. This may require travel to a customer site to gather and evaluate technical requirements and specifications or to ensure proper product installations. Supporting sales efforts as the technical SME is another important aspect of this role.

Finally, the Director/Manager will work closely with key suppliers, domestic and international, on design questions, refinements, and modifications to improve the quality of materials received.

As the department leader, the Director/Manager will establish metrics for measuring team performance, conduct regular 1:1’s, team meetings and annual performance reviews to ensure that the team is achieving company objectives and team members are developing successfully.
