GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Cover Supervisor to work within a high-achieving secondary school in Ripon. We are looking for a motivated, organised, and enthusiastic education professional who can confidently lead pre-planned lessons, maintain a positive learning environment, and support students in reaching their full potential.
Cover Supervisor Role:The successful Cover Supervisor will supervise lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring learning continues smoothly across a range of secondary subjects. We are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor who is confident managing classrooms, promoting positive behaviour, and engaging students who may occasionally require additional encouragement to remain focused on their learning.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:- Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students remain engaged throughout the school day
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policies
- Support students with their learning and respond to questions where appropriate
- Record attendance and provide feedback to teaching staff on lesson outcomes and student behaviour
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure continuity of education
- Experience working with children or young people in a school, coaching, mentoring, or similar setting is desirable
- Confidence in leading a classroom and managing student behaviour effectively
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- A flexible, resilient, and professional approach to working across different subject areas
- A genuine interest in supporting young people and contributing to their educational success
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
