Network Controller - Based in Ripon and surrounding areas of Yorkshire

We currently have a Network Controller vacancy for our Customer Field Services department. This role is a mobile worker that covers Ripon and the surrounding Yorkshire region, helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to customers.

About the Role

Working type:
Permanent, 37 hours per week, rotational work patterns. Once fully trained you will be expected to take part in an out-of-hours standby, so flexibility outside core hours is essential.

Customer Field Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a first‑time fix solution for customers and the environment whilst ensuring quality follow‑on work is raised in accordance with our standards and specifications.
  • Own investigations linking to our ODI performance and deal with escalated issues from sewer systems, ensuring they are resolved or progressed in a timely fashion.
  • Support the delivery of a “first‑time fix” / same‑day solution to customer and environmental problems and deliver the asset plan for network maintenance to eliminate escapes.
  • Work closely with other Yorkshire Water teams and our contracted partners on site to resolve and manage escalated operational issues on the sewers.
  • Undertake thorough and timely investigation of escalated issues on our sewerage system to resolve and prevent repeat issues and customer contacts, and support operational teams with investigations into sewer asset problems.
  • Utilise IT systems to collate information and relay feedback and progress rechargeable works.
  • Ensure Health and Safety working practices & procedures are always complied with.
  • Demonstrate financial awareness and provide technical support to ensure a first‑time resolution, promoting the most cost‑effective solution.
What you will need (skills, experience & training)
  • Previous experience in a customer‑facing role with face‑to‑face communication with customers (essential).
  • Previous wastewater experience and a good knowledge and understanding of drainage and sewer networks.
  • A strong health & safety background and proficiency in the use of IT systems and technical equipment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to find faults, diagnose root causes, and capture evidence and feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to influence outcomes and make decisions while delivering against business targets.
  • Full valid driving licence (with no more than six points) and willingness to travel to different operational sites across the region.
  • Flexible attitude towards work with the ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships, demonstrating Yorkshire Water values and behaviours.
  • Will be required to work within confined spaces and must pass strict medical criteria, including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing and spirometry tests.
  • Ability to work within flexible working patterns and job‑share options where possible.
