EES Coke Operations is a facility in River Rouge, MI on Zug Island. The plant produces coke from various types of coal blends and is then used as fuel in the blast furnaces at the steel mill.

This is not a position with Detroit Edison, it's a position with EES Coke Battery, which is a subsidiary of DTE Energy.

The position includes health, dental, vision, and prescription insurance starting day one of employment. Currently, we are offering a $2,500 signing bonus and an additional $2,500 upon successful completion of the probationary period of 1,040 hours. This position also receives quarterly bonuses of up to $7,500 per year, based on EES Coke Battery’s quality and production. The pay range for this position is$44.55 - $49.64.

The person in this job will work a 12-hour rotating shift. The schedule is a 4-week rotation; you will work 14 out of 28 days with 7 days off in a row somewhere within the 4-week rotation.

Performs all maintenance functions necessary to maintain all operating and service equipment using standard and specialized tools and equipment including mobile equipment as required. Operates equipment in conjunction with repairs and aids in operating functions as necessary to maintain continuity of operations. May work alone, with minimal supervision or with other Maintenance Technicians and coordinates and works in conjunction with operating team members in the performance of maintenance tasks.

This job has three levels (A, B,

C) that an individual may progress through once the minimum experience requirement is met and individual shows a clear understanding of job functions. Each task is assigned points according to complexity. The Mechanical Maintenance Tech I may progress to the next level when 45 points of specified task proficiency is accumulated. Accumulating 45 points will earn the Mechanical Maintenance Tech the mid-range pay rate, and 85 points will progress the mechanic to the third and highest pay rate within that level.

• Maintains various types of machinery in the coke making process

• A high school diploma or GED
• A valid driver’s license
• Must be a licensed Industrial Mechanic journeyman or similar trade with 5 or more years of heavy industrial experience to provide the following:
  • Must have advance precision cutting skills with burning torch.
  • Must possess 3G vertical open root certification or greater.
  • Must have intermediate pipe threading and fitting skills.
  • Must have intermediate rigging knowledge and experience.
  • Must have advance print reading abilities.
  • Must have advance hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Must have basic air compressor and dryer maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Must have rotating equipment shaft alignment experience.
• Strong safety experience
