Position Summary
The Permit Coordinator assembles all documents required for permitting, submits, and obtains all building permits for the design of PV and PV+ Storage systems. They interface with in-house designers and city officials, preparing and reviewing all paperwork and drawings necessary to receive building permits and resolving objections related to Building, Zoning and Planning Departments as needed. The Coordinator keeps the installation-ready flow consistent.
Pay Range: $20 to $23/hr.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain pipelines of permits submitted, permits approved, past expected date, and upcoming expected dates, ensuring that submissions take place within SLA and responding to all AHJ requests within one business day.
- Call cities and counties for application process(es), costs, status updates, and to confirm project jurisdiction.
- Prepare routes for permit techs as necessary—submitting and issuing permits, performing research at an AHJ, visiting customer’s homes to obtain signatures, and other necessary project tasks.
- Fill out permit applications and print if needed. Print plans per AHJ and SOW requirements. Submit plans electronically.
- Upload approved plans and job cards to our CRM/ERP.
- Upload corrections and notify the design team in our CRM/ERP.
- Coordinate Permit Technicians, check to see how permit techs are progressing throughout the day, act as support, and help solve any issues.
- Use and understand various BI reports to make educated decisions and reprioritize to address growing queues.
- Escalate system and process issues to the Regional Permit and Inspection Manager, Branch Manager, or Regional Engineering Manager as necessary.
- Request checks from Accounting; ensure all checks are accurately recorded in the Master Accounting tracker, and ensure voided checks make it back to Accounting.
- Manage expense reports and meet the weekly deadline for expenses to be submitted. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Strong attention to detail while producing accurate and high-quality work.
- Experience interfacing with municipality electrical and building departments.
- Intermediate computer skills. Experience with Docu Sign, Adobe PDF, Outlook, Excel, and Word preferred.
- Previous office or clerical experience preferred.
- Must be self‑motivated and thrive in a team environment.
- Ability to manage workflow while multitasking.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance required.
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Intermediate computer skills. Experience with Docu Sign, Adobe PDF, Outlook, Excel, and Word preferred.
- Attend weekly webinars or departmental calls.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
- Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly.
- Regularly spend long hours in intense concentration reviewing and entering information into a computer.
- Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects.
- Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

- Frequently bend to file and maintain files.
- Occasionally lift 5‑10 pounds.
Employee is required to travel for business purposes, not including commute to and from work. If required to travel, must have a valid driver's license, insurance, and the ability to drive a personal vehicle to different sites.
