TRP Clean Street Ambassador (Part-Time) About Us

The Town of Riverdale Park Department of Public Works provides essential services that keep the community safe, clean, and functional. These services include facility maintenance, waste collection, street sweeping, litter and graffiti control, snow removal, traffic management, engineering support, and equipment maintenance. The Department maintains Town‑owned facilities and open spaces, supports non‑Town‑owned infrastructure, and often serves as a first responder during emergencies.

Most work is performed outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Position Summary

The TRP Clean Street Ambassador is a part‑time position responsible for supporting the cleanliness, appearance, and overall quality of public spaces throughout Riverdale Park. Clean Street Ambassadors serve as visible representatives of the Town, helping to foster community pride and support Town initiatives through direct engagement in the field.

Work hours may vary based on operational needs, seasonal demands, and Town events, and will include some evening and weekend work.

Reporting Relationship

Reports directly to the Operations Manager, Department of Public Works.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Department of Public Works in maintaining clean streets, parks, facilities, and green spaces.
  • Patrol assigned areas to identify and promptly remove litter, debris, and illegal dumping.
  • Respond to graffiti and vandalism and assist with removal and preventative actions.
  • Support landscaping and beautification efforts, including planting, watering, weeding, and basic tree care.
  • Assist with the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of Town‑sponsored events and activities.
  • Engage respectfully with residents, businesses, and visitors, and relay their concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Promote community awareness related to cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and Town initiatives.
  • Maintain basic activity records and provide reports as requested.
  • Work collaboratively with Public Works staff and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum age: 21 years.
  • Demonstrated interest in community service, environmental initiatives, or public works‑related activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Prior experience in community service, landscaping, maintenance, or related work preferred.
  • On‑the‑job training will be provided.
Licensure
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class D driver’s license.
Mental Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills related to maintenance and cleanliness needs.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform sustained physical activity, including walking, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to perform assigned duties safely.
