Elementary Teacher - Music

POSITION SUMMARY

Develops students’ understanding, appreciation of the art of music, including listening to a wide range of musical genres, periods and styles; and to identify, promote and develop each student’s talents in vocal and instrumental musical expression.
This position reports to the Principal.

• Instructs students using various teaching methods such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration and other materials to supplement presentations relative to specific content field.
• Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students’ progress, record results and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
• Maintains discipline in classroom and supervises behavior outside the classroom (i.e., halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, restroom duty).
• Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
• Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review student’s progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
• All other duties as assigned and required to perform the above services.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
• Makes recommendations and/or decisions which usually affect the entire school.
• Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T-4 to T-7 as required by the GaPSC.

• Music (P-12)

Normal classroom/school setting. Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one‑half (7½) hours per day. Light duty – On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.
